About ClearPath Fraud Help

We’re an educational resource that helps people in the United States understand what to do after an online scam, where to report it, and how to find trustworthy help.

Why ClearPath Fraud Help exists

Finding out you have been scammed is stressful, and the next steps are rarely obvious. Should you call your bank first or file a police report? Can you get your money back? Do you need a lawyer? ClearPath Fraud Help was created to answer those questions in plain language, so people across the United States can act quickly and safely after an online scam.

What we do

  • Explain what to do in the first hours and days after a scam.
  • Show you how to report a scam to your bank or card issuer, the FTC, the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3), and your state attorney general.
  • Describe the legitimate options that may exist for trying to get money back, such as chargebacks, payment disputes, and small claims court.
  • Explain how to find a licensed attorney through state bar referral services and legal aid organizations.
  • Help you spot common scams, including fake RV and camper listings, car buying scams, and pet or puppy scams.

What we don’t do

  • We are not a law firm, and nothing on this site is legal advice.
  • We are not a fund recovery service, and we never ask for fees to recover lost money.
  • We do not contact scam victims first. If someone reaches out claiming to be from ClearPath Fraud Help and asks for money, it is not us.
  • We cannot take on individual cases or investigate specific scams.

How we keep our information reliable

Our guides point you to official sources whenever possible, including the Federal Trade Commission, the FBI, state attorneys general, and state bar associations. Laws and procedures differ from state to state and change over time, so we encourage you to confirm details with the official agency or a licensed attorney before acting.

Who we help

ClearPath Fraud Help is written for people in the United States who have lost money or personal information to an online scam, and for family members helping someone who has. You don’t need any legal or technical background to use our guides.
